British farmers rubbed fennel, salt, and soap on their plows to strengthen their land and encourage a good harvest. Its scent also helps improve memory, so it has some Mercury to it. The scent of this essential oil is fresh and spicy with a herbaceous and earthy undertone. It's considered to be in the anise family of scents. Good as a wash to keep away evil and ghosts, and is often a componenet in Midsummer celebrations. Steam-distilled from organic Foeniculum vulgare var. dulce in Bulgaria.
