Vetiver grass Vetiver Essential Oil

Vetiver, which is obtained from the roots of a tropical grass, helps us to remain grounded even while it brings out our most deeply buried secrets. When one considers that this grass has hundreds of tiny roots that directly touch the earth and pull up and absorb subtle earth essences, it is no wonder that vetiver is also known as the Oil of Tranquility. A complex earthy and woody fragrance, vetiver reminds many people of a damp forest floor. It is exceptionally calming (for pets too) and has long been used in spells to aid in processing grief or shock due to an unexpected loss, like divorce or sudden unemployment. Vetiver helps in calming dreams and soothing sleep and so is good where nightmares have been a problem. As an Elemental Earth fragrance, it is helpful to merchants (and others) in drawing money and keeping thieves away, showing a Mercury influence. It is also thought to promote love and bonding. Steam distilled in Haiti from Vetiveria zizanioides.

Combining With Other Essential Oils

Vetiver is a wonderful basenote and combines well with the natural scents of bergamot, black pepper, clary sage, coriander, eucalyptus, galangal, geranium, ginger, grapefruit, jasmine, lavender, lemon, lemongrass, litsea cubeba, mandarin, orange, rose, sandalwood, ylang ylang, and yuzu. Top
