This wood smells wonderful when heated, from a burst of pine to a woody, smokey scent. This tree is identified with immortality for obvious reasons and is cleansing and protective. This magick herb has been associated with the Sun, Mars, Fire, Earth, and Jupiter, but to me it is most like Jupiter, because it is a bold tree--in staying green it stands out even in winter--and its warm and welcoming scent makes me think of good cheer (it's, ahem, a jovial scent).
