Black Veil Incense
During the darkening period of the year, what could be
more appropriate than some incense dedicated to looking through
the veil between here and there? I constructed this incense with
the historical uses of the ingredients in mind: myrrh for the preservation
of the bodies of the dead, cypress because of its connection with
coffin-making and its role as graveyard guardian. I also added some
European mandrake extract to give it some extra power, as this root,
while very sunny actually in its spirit, knows much about the Underworld.
I also added the black/indigo fruits of juniper and opoponax, with
its Plutonian connections, Pluto being to my mind the Saturn of
moderns when it comes to working with the dead. This incense is
meant to be an aid to necromancy and exploring the Underworld.
Also good for any dark work.
