Euphorbium Gum - Wolf's Milk (Euphorbia
resinifera)
Discontinued due to hazardousness
The extremely acrid latex of a cactus-like plant that grows in Morocco, this gum occurs as an ingredient in some incense connected to Mars because it comes from a thorny plant and it burns intensely, or as Agrippa put it, this baneful substance is "poysonus by reason of too much heat." According to the Liber Juratus, it is dedicated to Aquarius. It burns with a pale flame and is said to give off a smell like benzoic acid, a pleasant fragrance, although I have not tried this. Given how caustic even just the dust of this resin is (just packaging it gives me a blaster of a headache), I would be extremely careful about burning it, using it only outside and not breathing in any of the smoke. A homeopathic remedy made from euphorbium gum is effective against cancer pain, gangrene, and long-term ulcers. It is also employed in various magickal oils and unguents, but such use implies a very thorough knowledge of this caustic herb. Do not work with it without eye, nose, and mouth protection.
