The scent of this
Sun resin is
similar to
frankincense,
but more delicate. It is one of the ingredients in
Incense of
Abramelin. Olibanum is also
known as a perfume of Fire of
Fire. In
Kabbalah, this scent is associated with the sepher
Tiphareth, which is connected with Sun-type
deities such as Ra, Apollo, and Balder. Ayurvedic
medicine, it is called Salai guggal and used as
an analgesic, especially for rheumatic diseases.
In the West, this resin has been showing promise
in the treatment of certain types of brain
tumors.
