Horned God Oil I
was asked to design this oil to honor the Horned God: the personification
of natural wildness, the animal spirit, and the masculine aspect
of the divine. Personally, I have always associated this spirit
with forests, which are places of great complexity and unknowableness,
fertility, abundance, but also danger and even fright. To me
these qualities are part of us all, but they have been stifled,
blunted, and perverted. The cyclicity that is manifested in
the Triple Goddess here appears in the form of the antlers,
which are shed each year and regrow anew. He is connected to
the Wild Hunt, a concept linked not only to the wildness and
fertility of nature but also to the dead. I based this oil primarily
on forest scents like spruce, fir, pine needle, cedar, cypress,
and moss, but I also referenced the sacred by the incorporation
of frankincense and laurel leaves, which are also associated
with Sun deities (another aspect of the Horned God). For more
specifically masculine scents, I used calamus (also Sun associated),
valerian, and more. The finished fragrance is a rich mixture
of dappled forest floor and sanctifying resins with a little
musk. I hope you enjoy it and that it helps you connect to the
Horned One as it has me. For another take on the Horned God,
check out my Baphomet oil. Top
