Yesod (Moon) Oil
Jasmine and orris root are the perfumes of the sephirah
Yesod, to
which I added the Moon-ruled violet leaf. The resulting scent is both sweetly
smooth, like night jasmine, and moist as evening dew. The ninth of the ten sephirot is
associated with divination in various forms, whether through dreams,
precognition, or astral work, and with prophecy, shapeshifting, and glamours. In traditional Kabbalah, this sephira seen as male
to the female Malkuth but is also ruled by the
Moon. Yesod
represents our ability to communicate with the outside world. The name of God resonating
with this sephirah is Shaddai El
Chai (shad is the Hebrew word for breast). Its color is violet and its
rank of angels is the Kerubim (Cherubim). For Christians, this sephirah
is the Holy Spirit; for those who see Kabbalah from a psychological
perspective, it is the unconscious. Working with Yesod is good not only
for developing divinatiory skills but for learning to distinguish
between fantasy and illusion, for seeing what lies behind and gives
shape to reality. Excellent for anointing skrying mirrors.
