Papaver somniferum Danish Flag Poppy
This Moon annual has large scarlet flowers with four
white blotches in the shape of a moonlight cross - or the pattern of the
flag of Denmark. It has nice, wrinkly single
petals with lots of fringe and grows 2.5ft/76cm feet high, which makes it rather
short for this plant family. This striking flower looks great with
Swansdown poppies, which has the
same sort of deeply cut petals in white. It's an heirloom poppy
variety, having been grown since the 1890s. Info on poppies, including
how to grow them.
