ElemiElemi Essential Oil
This is one of the few essential oils that actually smells like the real article with nothing left out. Most essential oils to me smell like they have a very high vibration - the Mercury aspect of a substance seems overly emphasized in an essential oil. But since elemi resin has such a high essential oil content, it makes sense that its essential oil smells just like it. It's much easier to deal with the plain essential oil, too, since elemi resin is unbelievably sticky. The ancient Egyptians used elemi in the mummification process, so consider it for work with the Underworld. Like any Mercury herb, it is also great for helping to sharpen one's magical skills. Steam distilled from Canarium luzonicum in the Philippines. Top

Combining With Other Essential Oils

The wonderfully Mercurial citrus/resinous smell of elemi combines well with aloeswood, amyris, angelica seed, atractylis, bay, benzoin, birch bud, cardamom, cascarilla, cedar, cedrat, cinnamon, citronella, clove, copal, cubeb, fennel seed, fir, frankincense, galangal, galbanum, ginger, grains of paradise, guaiacwood, gurjun balsam, hemlock, hyssop, juniper berry, labdanum, lavender, lemon, lemongrass, litsea cubeba, mace, marjoram, mimosa, muhuhu, myrrh, neroli, nutmeg, opoponax, orange, parsley seed, patchouli, pepper, petitgrain, pimento berry, pine, rose, rosemary, sandalwood, spikenard, tansy, tolu balsam, turmeric, valerian, vanilla, verbena, vetiver, and zedoary.
