Yule Oil
The burning night-hearth and the blinding white fire of the Sun reflecting off snow gave us the primary inspirations for this magical scent dedicated to the year's longest night. Thus, midwinter staples of frankincense, cinnamon, and clove began our journey, for the promise of fiery protection and inner strength through cold and sometimes difficult times. A few base notes of dark patchouli and other earthier scents were added to higher citrus notes, grounding the mixture while giving homage to the Sun’s rebirth from the perpetual pull of the Underworld. Evergreens were the final piece to the puzzle, as the scent of the chill wind blowing between conifer needles came immediately to mind, so purifying essential oils of balsam fir, hemlock spruce and others were added to give a fresh piney burst to the bouquet, reminiscent of the Wild Hunt’s endless cantering through evening woodlands and wild meadows. This allows our Yule Oil, though inspired by "everyone's favorite" Midwinter Festival, to be a powerful and complex scent perfect for any wintery celebration, ritual, or spellcasting where warmth and fire is called to endure through the cold.
