Wisdom Oil
This oil is designed to honor and channel the wisdom of age. Inspired by the energy of the Crone and the Wandering Ascetic—both imbued with precious knowledge gained through their wealth of experience and proximity to death—this oil celebrates the freedom that is gained during one's transition away from socially sanctioned pleasures toward the spiritual quest, which is not subject to or bound by society's norms.

When we think of these archetypes, we think of someone who has left behind the juiciness (and sloppiness) of youth and ventured into a dry land—the hermit in the desert, the Witch in the brown, winter woods. Here, outside the "approved" boundaries, the dross has been shed or burned away and that which remains is precious indeed. Yet, this is not an ending. It is a cycle nearing completion, like the dark of the moon, rich with occult knowledge and potential, gifts bestowed by death, which is an end and also a beginning.

When creating this magic oil, we start with warming spices, like various types of peppercorns and coriander, which are transformed and enriched in scent by drying. We also reach for "eternal" woods like cypress and cedar, which resist the deterioration of age, becoming wizened, bony and dry but maintaining their fragrance (spirit/soul) and strength. Likewise, we include precious woods like sandalwood and aloeswood that develop their rich fragrances over time and have a complexity and depth that is not always appreciated at first glance. Wisdom Oil starts out dry and clean and gradually morphs to peppery, rich precious woods. It is nicely complex, as age and wisdom should be.

Use it as an aid in discovering your authentic self and for honoring the energy of the wise Crone or sage (in yourself and in others). This oil is also good for honoring deities that manifest as Crones, such as some versions of Hekate, and for dipping into the Crone stream of knowledge. It can also be used as a support for Saturnian workings, such as those that explore structure and limitations, growth/age/decay, and the passage from life into death. As always, this oil is ritually handcrafted from essential oils in a carrier base of organic fractionated coconut oil. It is all natural and does not contain fragrance oils, dyes, or synthetic ingredients of any kind.
