 Dark Harvest Incense
This
incense is for aiding the magical worker who wishes to bring to
the surface what lies beneath, be that knowledge of the Underworld,
the dead, or just the Dark in its various forms. This is not a bringing
to the light in order to destroy but a bringing up of the dark in
its own blackness in order to come to know that darkness. It is strongly
connected to death. Our founder arrived at the formula working in a different
way than we usually do. Often we make use of planetary and
elemental attributions for scents and/or research into historial
texts. However, this one began with the intuitive combination of five (the pentagram)
black fruits--European plum, blackthorn berries, elderberries, black
currants, and juniper berries. We saw these as the literal fruits
of a journey into the dark or beneath the ground, a pulling up of
black energy. We added myrrh and cypress because not only are
these traditionally associated with death, but their preservative
aspects show their concommitant connection to immortality. In
addition, myrrh is strongly protective. Opoponax is there also for
its potentiating ability, and more innocuous resins as well as volatile
spirits are part of this rather complex mix. We hope it gives you strength when working with the Dark.
